Our story began in 1919.

Our story began in 1919 when Scottish immigrant A.B. Mitchell bought the jewellery store he had once worked for, and created A.B Mitchell Jewellers. Over the next thirty years, Mitchell established a well-respected name in the Red Deer community.

To continue growing as a business and service, Alexander Mitchell welcomed Bob and Doris Jewell as partners in 1950. Bob Jewell was known for his creativity and enjoyment of artwork designing houses. Their partnership became Mitchell & Jewell and together they took the name forward into the next era.

It was only natural that Bob and Doris’ son, Richard, who spent a considerable amount of time in the store, would take on the family business full time in 1979. He and his wife Marilyn continued to honor his father’s values and work ethic, making sure that every customer was cared for and given top-not service.

Today.

As time passed, Richard and Marilyn wanted to make sure the Mitchell & Jewell legacy would endure the changing world and continue to thrive. Seasoned jewellers, Sean and Granada Robinson, purchased Mitchell & Jewell in 2012 knowing they could build on this rich history with new generations.The Robinsons were not only inspired but also determined to manage a well-established name, while also bringing a fresh and modern energy to the brand. Their vision was to build on Mitchell & Jewell’s community-focused business and continue to serve the needs of Alberta locals and to keep evolving the services to reflect what jewellery means today. Now in our third generation, Sean and Granada’s daughter, Courtney, is apart of the business and is creating her own roots as a jeweller and is becoming an integral part of our company.

It goes without saying that Mitchell & Jewell has remained a true family business for almost a century. With a wide expertise over several eras, we offer a beautiful balance of classic and contemporary.     Mitchell & Jewell offers custom designed engagement rings, wedding bands, bracelets, necklaces and other fine jewellery. Each personalized piece of jewellery begins with a conversation between you and one of our experienced team members.

    Mitchell & Jewell provides appraisals for many items, including fine jewellery, diamonds, gemstones and more. Our appraisers are knowledgeable and experienced, and our accredited gemologist can properly identify and grade diamonds and gemstones.
